    Description

    This update consolidates the object draw UI and the named layers UI. In this patch , the object draw UI in the constraints panel no longer exists and it’s functionality has been intergrated into the named layers UI.

    The next task is to create toggle buttons that will set a renderable / not renderable toggle to each layer and color flag occupied layers. Also, the save image bug in the last build was fixed. The final UI design is still in flux because once all the functionality has been coded, dynamic allocation of layers will be worked in, condensed, and streamlined.

    It's looking great! Some suggestions/bugs, probably most are obvious though :)

    I'd like Object Draw options to be by layer rather than by object if they're going to be in that panel, so that for example every object in a layer with wireframe toggled would be displayed in wireframe.

    Move object to layer should work with multiple objects selected.

    We need names in the header layer button tooltips and in the Move to Layer popup

    For some reason you can't rearrange it correctly, it will always try to be parented to other panels if you drag it above them, and if you collapse the panel it will move to the bottom. It's like the bounding box is screwed up.

    As you mentioned,some are bugs that are being worked on upon discovery and thanks for pointing those out.Also,the feature suggestions you made should be included and make sense.I want the feature to ultimately be streamlined and beneficial (not just a quick hack).Update four should appear sometime next week with more consolidations and features added.Thanks also because I was starting to think that maybe many didn't think that an improved layer system wasn't important enough to recieve serious priority at this time.

    I would say a good layering system is vital. Most 3D packages have a dynamic layering system. Maya and 3DS Max give the user the ability to create, name and delete layers as needed in a project. This will be a big step for Blender.
